The Republic of Uzbekistan has received financing from the World Bank to cover the costs of the Agriculture Modernization Project and intends to use part of the funds for consulting services.
The primary objective of the assignment is the recruitment of an International Consultant to provide strategic and technical leadership for the development of cucurbit crop cultivation.
The detailed Terms of Reference (TOR) for the assignment are attached to this request for expressions of interest.
International Center for Strategic Development and Research in Food and Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture now invites eligible (“Consultants”) to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services.
The International Advisor will focus on the following key areas:
• PhD in horticulture, plant breeding, agronomy, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in cucurbit crop research, development, or cultivation practices.
• Proven track record of working on international agricultural development projects.
• Expertise in seed systems, pest and disease management, and climate-resilient practices.
• Experience in Central Asia, CIS countries, or regions with similar agro-climatic conditions is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities in smallholder farming systems.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Knowledge of Russian or Uzbek is an advantage.
The attention of interested Consultants is drawn to Section III, paragraphs, 3.14, 3.16, and 3.17 of the World Bank’s “Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers” July 2016 (“Procurement Regulations”), setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest.
A Consultant will be selected in accordance with the IC method set out in the Procurement Regulations.
